Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization

The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization was opened in 2008 and is dedicated to honouring the strong Islamic heritage of the region and beyond. This new, cutting-edge institution replaces the original Islamic Museum, established in 1996.

Muslim culture is showcased through religious artworks, elaborate tapestries and important relics including ancient armour, precious coins and a zodiac mosaic all found in a strikingly beautiful building with an impressive golden dome.

You’ll find thousands of these fascinating Islamic artefacts spread throughout several themed display rooms, inside a striking Moorish building by the water.

The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization is only a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and a few blocks from Sharjah Art Museum; perfect for a cultural day out in Sharjah and to learn more about the history of the area.
